Riding the Truck, New Shoes, and Corn on the Cob

Every day is a new adventure in our house! The babies are having so much fun, and so are we! We are constantly amazed at how much they are learning and how much they know already.

One of their birthday gifts from my best friend Denise was a "flute." It actually looks like the round instrument that you blow into to find the right pitch for singing. Adam can actually blow into it and make noise! He is so proud! (Denise also got them a drum and tamborine. We have our own little band! Each baby loves playing the instruments).

Avery is a natural at climbing on things. Taylor (our new nanny) got them a rocking horse for their birthday. Avery will actually hold on to the handle and throw her leg over to get on his back. Just like you would riding a real horse! She also does the same thing with a Tonka truck. Here is a picture of she and Aaron riding together.

Aaron is a FLIRT!! We went to a restaurant on Sunday, and every time this cute waitress walked by, he would smile and follow her with his head. So much so that he actually turned himself around in the high chair! Today at WalMart he also smiled really big at every girl that said "Hi" to him. He is such a character!

Here is a picture of the babies with their first walking shoes. The babies can walk around furniture and when holding on to fingers, but they each have only taken a few steps independently. I know it won't be long....Wow!

And finally, tonight at dinner I was eating corn on the cob. Avery and Aaron could do it too! They actually bit into the ear and pulled off corn kernels. It was so funny! Adam just looked at me like I was nuts for putting that thing up to his mouth!

Birthday Party Pictures

We've been so busy! It was a whirlwind getting ready for the birthday party, and then a week-long clean up session afterwards! The kids enjoyed their party so much! They got lots of clothes, which they needed since they are growing so fast, and a few toys that they just love.

Each baby had their own b-day cake. Of course Avery destroyed hers, but the boys were a little more timid.

We went last week for their one-year checkup. The boys both weighed right at 20 lbs and were 30 in long. Avery weighed 18.3 and was 28 inches long. She is really small compared to them.

Also, last week Shelley B. came from Commanche with her triplets and 4 year-old daughter. Here is a picture of the 7 of us!

Happy Birthday Babies!

The babies turned One today! They had a great day! I fixed them waffles for breakfast and chicken spaghetti for lunch. Two of their favorites. Dad brought home a large slice of strawberry cake for them too. They also got to ride in their new forward-facing car seats! They were really intrigued by being able to look around. We are doing a birthday party for them this Saturday.

They also got their first hair cut today! All three babies did a great job...not even one tear! Here are some pictures. (Aaron first).

One Year Pictures

We took pictures at Portrait Innovations in Fort Worth today. I would HIGHLY recommend them! There are SO many good pictures...hope you don't mind a long blog! (And these are only a few of my favorites!) Aaron is in the green sweater and the blue Hawaiian shirt. Adam is in the orange sweater and green Hawaiian shirt.

Birthday in One Week!

The babies' birthday is next Wednesday! I'm so excited, and can't believe how fast the past year has flown by! I'm a little nervous about having everything organized for their party. The first time I've ever thrown a birthday party! Good thing that the babies won't know the difference!

We had so much fun in Vegas! I got to spend some time at the spa, and John did very well gambling. It was nice to get away and to spend some alone time together! We even got to sit and enjoy nice meals instead of throwing down our food--it felt amazing!

Taylor, our new nanny, started on Monday. She is doing a great job! The kids really love her and she is wonderful with them. She is a great help to us, and we are thankful to have her. Miss Chelsea started her new job today, and she said she had a great day! Of course we sent her some flowers--we wanted her to know how proud we were of her.

Here are some new pictures! Adam laying down on the kitchen floor--I think he just liked the feel of the cold tile. Aaron seeing and kissing his reflection in the oven. Avery--you just gotta love that belly!

Pig Pile!

When you get into the babies' play area and lay down, they love to come pile on you! I think it's John's favorite way to spend his lunch hour. They are so fun!

Many people have asked me what the babies are eating now. Everything! They usually eat banana waffles (no syrup), oatmeal, or Malt O Meal for breakfast. For lunch and dinner they love broccoli/rice casserole, pasta pick-ups (ravioli's for kids...the greatest invention ever!), chicken (prepared any way--Avery LOVES chicken), mixed vegetables, pizza, grilled sandwiches, rice, beans, cantaloupe, watermelon....you name it! The boys love fruit, but Avery does not like it at all. She will eat maybe 2-3 bites of fruit at a meal, whereas you can't give Aaron fruit until the end because that is all he will eat. Some of their favorite foods are whole milk yogurt, avocados, and tomatoes. They are very good eaters! Here are some pictures of how messy they can get at meal times. (Adam is in the green...I'm not sure what kind of face he is making, but it is funny!)

John and I are going to Vegas for the weekend! Yeah!! We are both so excited. Miss Chelsea will keep the babies for the weekend and then the new nanny will start on Monday. (Yes...we found someone! Her name is Taylor and she is from Barry, TX--inbetween Corsicana and Hillsboro. Taylor will be staying with us during the weekdays and then going home on the weekends we don't need her to work. We are very excited to have that much help! I think she will be great!)

Here are a couple of pictures of Aaron that I absolutely love. The first, John is holding him up through the kitchen "window" between the kitchen and living room. He loves to let them play Peek-a-Boo with me while I'm cooking. The second is Aaron getting into the stuff at the bottom of the changing table.

Happy 4th of July!

We went to the square for a pancake breakfast, but the babies weren't awake for the city parade. We also went to a friend's house in the late afternoon. It was a good day! We hope you all had a great day too!

Here are the babies with me, Nurse Brandy, and her son Austin.
